Recently, Meilin Wong and Shail Barthwal from iSabel invited Tracy Minnoch-Nuku of Sexy Ageing to join them for an open and honest conversation about menopause and what's needed to support women’s well-being in the workplace. Why? Because some of the statistics on menopause are quite staggering:
- A billion people around the world are expected to experience menopause by 2025 (1 in 8 people!)
- Women make up nearly 50% of the global workforce
- 1 in 4 women age 40 or older will consider leaving the workforce or reducing the hours they work due to symptoms related to perimenopause and menopause
- Over 65% of women say there's insufficient support in the workplace for menopause symptoms
Yet, it’s a topic that many don’t talk openly about… and not talking about it impacts awareness, preparedness and support. That’s why we initiated this open and honest conversation on menopause. So that ALL of us - women and allies alike - can be the instigators of change to normalize talking about it with families, friends, and more importantly, in the workplace.
